What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
The pedagogy Learn; access and engage with existing knowledge, Create; activities that result in the development of new knowledge, Share; communicating and sharing knowledge with others puts the young people at the very center of their learning, predominantly supports this proposal. It comes from the (Hapara Inc, 2015). The following four principles guide Manaiakalani digital teaching and learning: Ubiquity: allowing students to access learning anywhere, anytime, any pace, any people learning, Agency: giving students the power to lead their learning by being informed, enabled and empowered learners. Connectedness: entails edgeless education with learners who have connected minds. Visibility: Learning that is fluid and visible to learners, teachers, parents, and the wider networks in the community. (Hapara Inc, 2015).
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
I've learnt that there are a number digital tools that can be of use when on google chrome. You would never think that there would be apps that could make your online experience so much easier. It was awesome getting to meet my bubble and is great reminder that we all learn at different rates and which is the same for my students. I find that 'trial and error' is also a great way to learn. It was great first day of DFI!
I learnt that everyone is learning at different rates with technology. My group bubble was a perfect example. It is important that you are patient with the kids and that you provide them with as much support as you can. I am looking forward to teaching them all of the online skills I learnt today such as using different tools on google docs
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
I have found it sometimes difficult to organise my work so that it is easier to manage. It is awesome to see how making little changes to your the way you organise your work makes your life as a teacher so much easier.
Kia ora Chris, Great to hear that day 1 went well.
ReplyDeleteI like your drawing using the Roscommon colours and showing what you have done as a syndicate (or is some of it yet to come?).
I look forward to seeing further learning.
